Use low growing perennial plants such as ivy, pachysandra and vinca as ground covers on slopes and rough ground or in place of high maintenance lawns. Below is a guide to determine the spacing of these plants.

Plant spacing per square foot:

6” apart = 4 plants/sq ft

8” apart = 2.25 plants/sq ft

12” apart = 1 plant/sq ft

For example

One flat of Ivy or Pachysandra (100 cuttings per flat) will cover:

25 sq ft ….. 6” apart

44 sq ft ….. 8” apart

100 sq ft ….. 12” apart

One flat of Vinca (50 peat pots per flat) will cover:

12.5 sq ft ….. 6” apart

22 sq ft ….. 8” apart

50 sq ft …… 12” apart
