Native plants are those that grow naturally within the local ecosystem, vital to the local wildlife, insects, and climate. Many of these plants have evolved over time to adapt to the surrounding environment, especially tolerating hot versus cold weather, or, like in Maryland, all four seasons. Typically, native plants are easier to garden and require less maintenance to thrive. We will discuss more about plants native to our area and the Mid-Atlantic region, butterfly host plants, and much more.
