Phalaenopsis

Orchid

Orchidaceae

One of the best-blooming houseplants on the market, Orchids are sought after for their unique shapes and colors. They thrive in extremely bright indirect light, along with slight dry spells in between watering. They make wonderful gifts for loved ones, as well as pet-friendly plants.

When re-potting, Orchids prefer to be planted in a loose medium, such as bark chips, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Their roots are naturally airy and wriggly, so don't worry if some exist outside of the pot. Only repot when the orchid has shredded its blooms, otherwise, transplant shock can cause a rapid loss of flowers.
